Cheryl is our music director and vocalist. She began singing publicly at the age 8 and began voice lessons at 18.
Cheryl's favorite songs include Good, Good Father by Chris Tomlin and I'd Rather Have Jesus. Good, Good Father is special to Cheryl because it "reminds me of our Heavenly Father that loves us unconditionally." Also special to Cheryl is Grace Wins by Matthew West because "it makes us aware of His amazing grace."
Cheryl is also a songwriter with 20 of her songs having been professionally recorded by Home Town Music of Whitesburg, Kentucky, when they recorded a CD of the gospel group of which she was a member, called Blessed Assurance.
Shawn plays alto and tenor saxophone for our Praise and Worship Team. He learned to play at the age of 11 when he joined the school band. In addition to the sax, Shawn plays the clarinet. Among his favorite songs to play are Amazing Grace and How Great Is Our God.
Shawn and his wife Crystal have three children: Garry, Elijah, and Emma.
|Jim plays lead guitar for our Praise and Worship Team. He taught himself to play at the age of 6 by listening and picking out the cords until he got it right. In addition to bass guitar, Jim plays lead guitar, harmonica, mandolin, and banjo. While he mostly plays gospel music, he mixes it up with a little country now and then.|
Jim and his wife Dorothy have seven children: Mark, GQ, Sandy, Kim, Renee, Cherie, and Angela. In addition, they have 17 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jonathan, Melissa, Anna Marie, Katy, Dorothy, Erin, Robert, Logan, Riley, Rebecca, Lingi, Alex, Joshua, Nicole, Myland, and Nolan.
Mark plays rhythm guitar for our Praise and Worship Team. His dad, Jim Thomas, taught him to play at age 50.
Mark has three children: Jonathon, Robert, and Rebecca; and two grandchildren: Robert and Tara. Mark enjoys fishing in his spare time.
Larry plays bass guitar for our Praise and Worship Team. He learned to play at age 12 from books and by observing other guitar players. He also plays the BB flat tuba.
Larry has two children: Jacklyn and Jason; and two grandchildren: Cooper and Kennedy. A favorite activity for Larry is spending time with friends.
