The Vocalystics, members of our congregation, is a southern gospel group who perform at area churches and festivals. Originally consisting of Lyndal Riggs, wife Peggy Riggs, and Rachel Yarbrough, the trio today is comprised of Lyndal, Peggy, and daughter Cindy Riggs, with occasional appearances by granddaughter Chasidy.
Lyndal, organizer of The Vocalystics, is a long-time veteran of gospel music. He began performing with The Royalaires Quartet at the age of sixteen. He has sung with various gospel groups through the years and wrote a number of the songs recorded by The Vocalystics. Prior to forming The Vocalystics, Lyndal sang with The Southlanders for fifteen years. Although he enjoys a variety of songs, Lyndal's favorites are Absent From the Body, The Lighthouse, How Great Thou Art, and The Way of Life.
Since she was a young girl Peggy has favored southern gospel music. She and Lyndal attended many gospel concerts during their courtship. Peggy was often in the audience during Lyndal's performances with The Royalaires. He's a Personal Savior, Sinner Saved by Grace, and He Gives Us Life are dearest to Peggy.
As a child, Cindy was often privileged to hear The Southlanders where she gained much of her knowledge about singing parts and various other aspects of the music industry. She can often be heard delivering the feature lead. Through It All, Roses Will Bloom Again, and I Go to the Rock are among Cindy's most cherished songs.
